The 13th Annual Easter Art Show - HOMAGE - is curated by Patrick McCallum. Friday, April 19 through Sunday, April 28, 2019 Opening night: Friday 19th, 6 - 9pm

Bob McKay and I have a joint show opening at Kizmit gallery on May 3rd, from 6 to 8pm. It's wonderful how well Bob's beautifully textured wood pieces work with my paintings. The show runs until May 26th.

If you haven't had a chance to see Octogony yet, the show is up until September 29th. Our artist talk was very well attended and led to some interesting conversations. We're all happy how this meeting of eight diverse artists has turned out. The response has been very positive. Open daily 10am - 5pm. Excerpt from Elizabeth Nolan's review in the Gulf Island Driftwood on Sep 26 2018:

Please join us for the opening of Octogony starting at 6pm on September 21. There will be an artist talk on Sunday 23, 2 - 4pm, with all eight artists in attendance. The show is open daily from 10 - 5 and runs until September 29.

On October 14, 2017 as part of the SSNAP program, a panel discussion "The Creative Mind: Creativity In the Arts & Sciences" was held in the ArtSpring Theater. The panellists were filmmaker Atom Egoyan, photographer Meaghan Ogilvie and Janet Halliwell representing the sciences. I was pleased to have some of my paintings serve as a backdrop for the discussion. The photo shows my diptych "Torn" which was also featured in the Parallel Show.

The 2017 Salt Spring National Art Prize and the Salt Spring Arts Council are proud to present the Parallel Art Show. The exhibition features the work of fifty outstanding Salt Spring Island artists who submitted their work to SSNAP 2017. Curated by Matt Steffich and Anthony Matthews, this exhibition demonstrates why Salt Spring Island is known as one of the premier arts communities in Canada.

Bob Weeden is a biologist, orchardist, ornithologist, philosopher and advocate for all things growing and wild. It gave me great pleasure that he resonated with my show enough to use it as a starting point for one of his unique and wonderful rambles. Where art, science and spirituality begin:

Being a very tactile person, most of my work starts with me messing with materials, looking for clues. The idea takes hold out of the process and then I pursue that concept in subsequent paintings. These new images exist in the space between the geological and the biological and are a consideration of where the spark of animation might happen.

I have work in this year's Easter Art Show at Mahon Hall, an annual tradition on Salt Spring. Kudos to Anthony Matthews for organizing a very handsome show. Over 40 artists have submitted strong work and the show looks great. Opening night is on Friday, March 25th, 6 -9 pm. The feature exhibit is open daily 10 - 5 until Sunday, April 3rd.

February 2015: Last week I had a very enjoyable studio visit from a group of volunteers who put together the well-known Sooke Fine Arts Show. Having 17 art savvy people crowded into my studio made for some surprising, and for me, very informative discussions. One of the group, Ken Moore, sent me this email which illustrates some of the avenues we were exploring:   Hello Chintan; I much appreciated the visit to your studio today;

If you find yourself in Victoria or the west coast of Vancouver Island this summer, make sure to stop by the Sooke Fine Arts Show. It's a juried show, and I'm pleased to have a couple of my paintings included for the third year running. The show is on from July 25th to August 4th with an opening and Purchaser's Preview Evening on July 24th.

20/20 VISION SHOW 2014
